EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY for Fire Chief Deadline March 29

Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), this full time exempt management position will organize and lead all fire department business, operations and administration as well as provide incident command at emergency situations of all types. This position plays a key role within the corporate leadership team of the Town. Your work will be integral to developing and facilitating an innovative, efficient and highly effective on call fire department.  In addition to the role of Fire Chief, you will provide advice and expertise to the Town emergency management program as the Deputy Emergency Coordinator, as well as assisting in Bylaw Enforcement.

You will be an excellent communicator, possess strong leadership, interpersonal and financial management skills and will have a demonstrated history of improving performance utilizing innovation and efficiency rather than expansion and expense.

A high degree of independence, initiative and judgement is required for this position. Change management and relationship building are essential skills as you manage, lead, coach and mentor a diverse team of fire service personnel and communicate with elected officials, town staff and the general public.  You must be unusually flexible, highly professional and results driven.

The Fire Chief must be in sound physical and mental condition and be willing, trained and prepared to assume either an operational or command role at any emergency incident and to respond to emergency incidents of all kinds alongside on-call members.
